Arties Most beautiful towns in Spain

Arties is located at an altitude of 1,143m at the junction between the Valarties and Garona rivers, in a small widening of the Valley. Located 7km from the Baqueira Beret ski resort and 7km from Vielha, in the province of Lleida, it is a hidden gem in the Catalan Pyrenees. In the center of the town we can find part of its Cultural Heritage, highlighting the parish church of Sta. María de Arties, a Romanesque construction from the 11th to the 12th century. In this construction we can find two bell towers, the first one dating from the last years of the 13th century and the beginning of the 14th century, and the second built in Romanesque style masonry. The church has three naves separated by cylindrical pillars that have no bases.
These pillars are crowned by a square and undecorated abacus from which the semicircular arches that support the walls start. Although without a doubt what stands out from this construction are the quality of its many paintings. In addition to this Church we can find other monuments such as the Church of San Juan, in the Gothic style, from the early fourteenth century, which is currently the venue for temporary exhibitions; the remains of the castle of Arties or Entrasaigües; the Tower and chapel of the Casa de los Portolà, from the 16th century; or Baths of Arties. With all this, Arties offers us a wide variety of options to spend a weekend getting lost in its streets.
